The National Consortium for Health Science Education is thrilled to announce the launch of our newest resource, the Health Science Curriculum Enhancements Version 7.0. The NCHSE Enhancements are a powerful and innovative solution designed to provide teachers with additional classroom content and strategies for teaching the National Health Science Standards. An expansive library of assessment questions is included for use in evaluating students understanding and progress. In this blog post, we’ll share details about our new resource and why we believe it can make a difference for health science education programs.

Authors of the Health Science Curriculum Enhancements (Version 6.0), Rhonda Evatt and Katrina Haynes revised and updated a newer version, Enhancements 7.0. This version is fully aligned with the National Health Science Standards (August 2022). The new resource is available for purchase: $450 for HSEA members and teachers/schools from member states, and $600 for nonmembers. Those who purchased Version 6.0 during the past three years (2020-2023) may only be interested in the updates, an abbreviated program: $150 for members and $200 for nonmembers. The Enhancements are available for purchase on the NCHSE Online Store with a credit card or purchase order.

There are activities, PPTs, projects, outlines, rubrics, test items, and other materials included in this resource; original work created by teachers for teachers. With its fun, engaging activities, this resource is inclusive, helpful, and thorough. These Enhancements provide classroom teachers with ways to supplement textbooks, online curriculum, and other resources provided by state education agencies, health science publishers and other educational resource providers.

Additional resources for this 2023-2024 school year are available in the free resources section of our website. Through a collaborative effort with HOSA–Future Health Professionals crosswalks of the HOSA Competitive Events Program both the secondary/postsecondary and collegiate and middle school levels. It is our pleasure to promote the usage of the HOSA Competitive Events Program as way to enforce the National Health Science Standards in the health science curriculum. The competitive events guidelines are free downloads that provide excellent rubrics to assess students’ knowledge and skills.

NCHSE excited about the potential of Health Science Curriculum Enhancements Version 7.0, and we hope you are too. Thanks for taking the time to read about our new resource, and we look forward to hearing how the Enhancements made a difference in your program.
