One of the most rewarding parts of being a health science teacher is to see your students make the connection to their future, earn a certification, and choose a career path. I have created an all-encompassing, engaging, and student driven project that allows for students to explore their “why” along with career passions, and dreams. Students will learn about health career pathways and do extensive research on up to three (3) careers.
This research project includes aspects of the National Health Science Standards, and HOSA competitive events, i.e.: skills demonstrations, Health Career Display, etc. Finally, students create a professional resume and cover letter, complete a mock interview, and complete college searches. All of this is documented in an e-portfolio that the student can “tweak” year after year.
