Fall 2018 Board and Publishers/Educational Resources Group Update Summary








On Thursday, October 18, NCHSE organized the Board and Publishers/Educational Resources Group Fall Update Call. Thirty-nine individuals joined the hour-long event to hear about NCHSE activities over the last six months and new initiatives for 2019. Members were reminded of the 2019 NCHSE Annual Meeting, January 30-31, St. Charles Hilton, New Orleans, LA. RSVPs are due by Monday, December 10 to Nancy Allen,

Nominations are open as NCHSE is seeking candidates for the offices of secretary, a one-year term and treasurer, a two-year term.  If interested, contact Cindy LeCoq, Past Chair, Angel Clark (SC) is coordinating the agenda for the 2019 Health Science State Leaders Meeting, January 29. Final agendas for both meetings will be emailed in early December. Phyllis Johnson, NCHSE Board Chair, reviewed newly instituted board membership options: $2500 annually or $1500 without travel benefits. The affiliation fee for NCHSE Publishers/Educational Resources Group members is $1500. Phyllis revisited the organizational chart that will be included in the 2019 proposed NCHSE bylaws revisions. Proposed revisions will be emailed to the membership sixty (60) days in advance of the annual meeting. Assessment chair, Cindy LeCoq shared data to support two recent successful NCHSE Certificate Labs. One in Dallas, TX at the HOSA–Future Health Professionals 2018 International Leadership Conference, June 27-30, where 435 exams were delivered to 241 interested students and the second one in Denver, CO at the 2018 National Health Science Conference, where 108 teachers took 158 exams in a monitored environment. A summary of 2018 National Health Science Conference was communicated and can be found in a separate article in this newsletter. NCHSE is pleased to announce an organizational meeting of the Health Science Educators Association was conducted the national conference by Lara Morris, NCHSE Chair-elect. Interest appears high and membership is currently approaching 100.
